Classes I'll be offering ...

Design Dilemmas and Studio Stumpers

Level: All Levels Length of Class: 3.5 Hours Thurs. Session 1-2 (T141) or Sat. Session 1-2 (S141)

Words to make us either shout for joy or shudder in our boots: Quilt as desired.” “Oh, I trust you. Do whatever you think looks best.” “Surprise me!”

Join Kay for a session in establishing some strategies and guidelines for answering the challenge and the question that plagues us all from time to time in our quilting careers when stumped by the “blank canvas” of a given quilt top. Feel free to bring your “studio stumpers” either the real quilt top or email me a photo for use during class discussion.

Inside the Lines Outside the Box

Level: All Levels Length of Class: 1.5 Hours Thurs. Session 3 (T342) or Fri. Session 4 (F442)

Explore the possibilities of the Statler Stitcher in the art quilt world as we look at adding color, image transfers, and ephemera embellishments to our projects. Be ready to enjoy the eye candy as Kay shows you her techniques using a variety of materials to create unique quilted works of art that start with a quilted design and grow as far as your creativity will take you.

Thriving vs Surviving

Level: All Levels Length of Class: 1.5 Hours Thurs. Session 4 (T443) or Fri. Session 3 (F343)

There is more to running a successful business than writing a business plan, setting up a bookkeeping system, ordering supplies, and opening your doors at 9:00 am every morning. Let’s take a second look at the creative entrepreneur within as you discover ways to breathe new life into your creative artistic soul while maintaining (or even increasing) the bottom line of your business.

Bread and Butter Whole Cloth Quilts

Level: All Levels Length of Class: 1.5 Hours Fri. Session 1 (F144) or Sat. Session 4 (S444)

Everyone can use an affordable “everyday” wholecloth quilt in their home décor whether it be a summer white for a cottage bedroom, a base foundation quilt for showcasing a smaller treasured quilt, or beautiful unique comforter using the fabric you couldn’t bear to cut into little pieces. Let Kay show you how easy it is to design simple, elegant everyday wholecloth quilts using SAM (Stand Alone Mode) on your laptop computer, and then let’s talk about effective execution, as well as options regarding fabric, thread, and batting.

Free Motion Commotion

Level: All Levels Length of Class: 1.5 Hours Fri. Session 2 (F245) or Sat. Session 3 (S345)

Come ready to play as Kay helps you transfer those doodled patterns from the margins of our journals, from the scraps of café napkins, and from the backs of discarded envelopes and get them under our needle and onto the quilt top. It’s all about muscle memory...so...bring pencil & paper, white board & markers, or even an Etch-a-Sketch and get ready to practice with just a few basic strokes as Kay shows you how to transform them into simple freehand fill patterns.
