    A TEASER: Mistletoe Magic 2011

Posted by mountaintopquilting on Monday, November 21st, 2011

MMAG 2011 BLOCK KIT MISTLETOE MAGIC ALERT! Another teaser coming your way. This is a block kit all cut and ready for piecing together. I used the Tri-Recs ruler set, the Omni 96, and a regular straight edge ruler.

Since I'm making my quilt with scrappy blocks I'm keeping the background consistent throughout. I have my "pop" or contrast color which is the bright red, and I have the block color which is the red print.

So far I have been able to use scraps from my scrap bins for all the blocks I've pieces. For the contrast fabric I've used strips that are 2.5" x 22" or any combination needed to accomplish the total length needed.

My block fabric consists of a strip 4.5" x 23". All of my background patches are cut from strips that are 4.5" x WOF. The pattern will be sized for the most common sizes seen for quilts - throw, twin, queen, and king. I haven't decided yet how big I will be making mine yet. With the colder winters here in New England I'm finding a greater appreciation for a couple of quilts on my king size bed from late October through March at least.

Stay tuned for more yardage specifics after Thanksgiving. December 10th is fast approaching and it's time to start getting a few patches cut before we all get together. I will be posting directions for this fun Christmas mystery workshop so if you'd like to participate send me an email and I can get you the particulars. Also, if you're interested in purchasing a kit for the throw size, let me know and I'll set what I can put together for you.

Thanks for stopping by; drop me a line in the comment box and say "Hi" and, remember to save time to be creative every day.

    • Hi Happy Thanksgiving! We are having rain, rain, and more rain! So maybe I need to go pet a few fat quarters and check out the stash. About a week ago the stash gave up my "Buff headwear" that has been hanging out in the stash bin for at least 5 months. Off to check out my painting from last nights class. Hugs Ann

    • Decisions, decisions. It'll take me longer to choose a color scheme than it'll take to make the quilt so I best start looking through the stash. Maybe it's time for something wild and crazy; like pink and ...!
