LEAVES ARE FALLING

It's hard to believe that just two weeks ago we had 24" of snow on the ground and still had leaves on the trees. The neighborhood kids were building snow jack-o-lanterns rather than snowmen. How funny to see the leaves come down on snow drifts. I wonder what is the determining factor to make leaves finally let go and flutter to the ground.
As we were driving into Boston yesterday I noticed the trees along the south side of the Pike were nearly leaf-less and many of the trees on the north side were still fully leafed; color was vibrant and full of every shade of autumn you could possibly imagine.
